Sun dogs romp ice skies
in sub-zero forecasts
January’s joke’s always
on us, enough to take you
round the bend, and then some
but in venturing out, as I must
I discover polar bears
no fuss, playing at the zoo
as if winter never was!
And as the old dog snores
back home, I dream of sun
clutching tropical brochures
and plummeting back to earth
I wriggle frost-nipped feet
thankful to be in from the cold

This poem seems to tell the entire story of winter.

I like this “winter” daydreaming! Can visualize those toes, all red and puffy, struggling to regain circulation. Reminds me when I was a kid, long ago in Massachusetts. Thanks, neighbor! 🙂
