Time Capsule

There was a time when
Summer’s time capsule
Took you to the moon
And back, but these days
You raise no argument
Adrift in coffee imprints
On the table, books unread
And above the roar
Abandoned to birdsong
Beyond the rush of motorbikes
You leave behind the restless city
Taking on green space
Bees & purple spires
Humming in sunny glory
And as a silk scarf waves
Rushing by in a car
For you, time stands still
Perhaps it always has
And you were always the one
Rushing on July’s heels
Trying forever to catch up
Now, a floating leaf
Makes you smile
Gold. At your feet
You know there’s no rush.
Autumn waits. In the wings.

  1. I love your poetry, wow! I’m so happy to find you. Happy to follow you!

  2. Such a vivid glimpse of summer! An “over again” read as the spirit licks the last crumb.
