Slow Green Hours

Somehow you arrive
in this unhurried day
blinking wide awake
as if for the first time
seeing simpler things
hammocks & swings
garden roots earthy
old arguments erased
dungarees & tees
hung to dry in the sun
the garage busting loose
at the seams, stretched
as nerves getting a break
old chairs dusted off
stepping stones winding
long and full of surprise
blooming mock orange
sprouting out of nowhwere
on the unpainted fence
a parade of pansy faces
and slow green hours
unfolding a supermoon
hung high in the sky
days like this waiting
whenever you’re ready
to hold the wide world
in a fast embrace
