There was oh so little
For her to text home about
These days, daffodils jumped
And pink roses ran wild
But nothing was trending new
Only the laughing blue sea
Clear waves lapping up
Spawning white summer shells
Beneath her shifting feet
And collecting them in pockets
She forgot her ‘what ifs’ and whys
Left them far behind as she hummed
Songs she’d forgotten from childhood
The boat skipped, set adrift
Slivering oars taking her far out
On her bay of dreams, a wise child
Wiser than before. Someone waved
As she rounded the headland
Finding greener grass to dance
