First Avenue North

Cracked cement curb
off First Avenue North
lamp post flickers
purple lightning bolts
storming midnight
mission doors open
netting in the broken
one by one by one
paddling upriver fast
a preacher says grace
slices waves of sorrow
no icing on a cake here
only a sandwiched cot
And past the s-curve
just other side of the tracks
someone bent a detour sign
to point at the neon cross
so it flashes red, ‘One way’

  1. What an insightful post.

  2. Indeed… one Way, the Cross of Jesus Christ! Awesome!
