Word(s) . Light . Life

Above raging divides
And frontlines flaming
Red against dark grain

Wings of hope and glory
Flying above frenzied fears
Waging battles of ages lost

Rumours reeling of disgrace
Riptides tearing up newswires
Mens’ hearts failing fierce

Crying sirens amid bird songs
Where grace soars silently still
A child’s heart waits in hope

  1. Such compelling imagery, especially of hope — surely, as Emily Dickinson says, “it is a thing with feathers”. I am reminded of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His grace, the only hope for a lost and dying world. Beautiful, uplifting poem, extracting light out of the darkness.
