The Loggia

Against indifferent grains
Newly planted vines
Sprout unexpected
Plantings gone dormant
Primed by new earth
Scored by ice and snow
Working seedlings
On the first floor loggia
Jars of clay slump half full
Soaked by spring rain
New points of view
Old ground reworked
Green dreams revived
Life staring wide
Spiralling upward
