Lay It All Down

Lay it all down, lay burdens low
Lay them round, near a fiery place
A changing  zone, where ‘self’ lets go
Where Abraham rested, close with God

Lay it all down, lay every burden down
Lay them low, near a windswept cross
Near a seat of tears, when hope seems lost
And transforming grace is a healing place

Lay it all down, lay every burden down
Every weighty rock, of body, spirit and soul
Near the empty tomb, when the night’s too long
Wait for the dawn, to release heaven’s song

Lay it all down, lay every burden down
Lay them lower still, as a net sunk low
On the other side, cast faith’s reach wide
The Lord is near, and every yoke made light
